Arnold J. Starkey
Arnold J. Starkey, 85, formerly of Secor Road, Toledo, Ohio, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at The Lakes of Sylvania. Arnold was born in Bryan, Ohio on May 2, 1932 to Earl and Loretta (Lumbrezer) Starkey. Arnold served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict as a ship’s radio operator.
Arnold was a self-employed carpenter for 40 years. He was a member of Christ the King Church and a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Arnold was an avid bowler and enjoyed playing cards and golfing.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents, sister Helen O’Brien, and twin brother Arthur. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Nancy (Wiener), children Melenie Spengler, Michael (Vanessa) Starkey, Sue (David) Urbanowicz, brother Richard (Carol) Starkey, sister-in-law Hope Starkey, 6 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd, on Monday February 5, from 2-8 pm with rosary and scripture services at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, February 6, at 10 am at Christ the King Church, 4100 Harvest Lane. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 9 am in the church narthex. Burial will take place in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Trilogy Foundation.
