Patrick E. Ryle, 69 of Toledo, Ohio passed away September 8, 2017 at UTMC due to complications from a biking accident. He was born on June 20, 1948 in Toledo to Hugh and Betty (Hinman) Ryle.
Pat served in the US Army from August 1968 to September 1969. While serving, he was awarded the Expert Rifle M16, Sharpshooter Badge Rifle, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Purple Heart. Pat was very proud of his service to his country and the friends he served with.
Pat loved to ride his bike and explored all of Toledo from his daily travels. He was currently conditioning for the Senior Special Olympics and has traveled from Florida to Ohio riding his bike. He loved spending time in his yard, helping his neighbors and collecting various things.
Pat is survived by his sisters, Nancy Scharlow, Linda Durbin, and Vickie Sprague. Also surviving are 13 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Proceeding Pat in death were his parents, grandparents Thomas and Mary Hinman and Robert and Blanche Ryle.
The family will welcome guests at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral home, 3453 Heatherdowns Blvd. at Byrne Rd, on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 12:30 to 1:30 with a funeral procession immediately following the visitation to Toledo Memorial Park in Sylvania where a graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2 p.m. with Father Patrick Rohen, Captain US Army, Retired officiating. The family suggests memorials be made to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Foundation, 7008 Little River Turnpike, PO Box 49, Annadale, VA 22003.
