Condolence From: bob williamson
Condolence: hi folks, this is Bob Williamson, Marie's son. thank you for all of your kind condolences for my mom. when we were kids, we couldn't go anywhere with mom without her running into a former or current student. we would joke about it all the time. i found out today that the Woodward Memorial club no longer exists, but they do have a scholarship fund that i'm sure mom would approve as an alternative. thanks again, Bob.

Condolence: Ah that linguini and clam sauce . What a fabulous cook Marie was. Our trips to Stratford are still so close to my heart. She will always hold a very special place in my heart. And may she rest in peace. My deepest condolences to all of you. Go Steelers! her favorite team.

Condolence: Marie was so many things to me. She was my senior English teacher, my cooperating teacher for student teaching, a wonderful friend of both my husband and myself and a mentor. She showed me that one can be a student, a teacher, a wife and a mother. She loved teaching, and she loved her family. She was an amazing seamstress, an avid reader, a lover of musicals and a "mother figure" to her students. She was also an amazing conversationalist and someone who could also listen. I still remember a one day Stratford trip that we went on; we left early, arrived in Stratford, had dinner and then took in a play, Romeo and Juliet. After the play, we drove home. It was early morning by the time she dropped me off, but what an amazing time full of so many conversations about so many topics. Marie was a true Polar Bear; she gave so much to Woodward and her students, and I think she knew how important that time was for her students. The play Our Town by Thornton Wilder talks about "something being eternal." Marie lives on in her students, her family and friends. Thank you, Marie, for all that you did and all that you were for all of us.

Condolence: I was a student in Marie's 1963-64 Senior English class. What I admired most about Marie was her ability to take a sincere interest in her students as well as helping us to be appreciative of poetry, English literature, and to improve our writing. And isn't this what great teachers do?
To demonstrate my interest in Marie, 2 of us even went to her house, over Christmas Break, uninvited, to see her. She must have been shocked to see us, but she invited us in and introduced us to her her husband and her sister.
In my career in TPS, I always hoped to be as complete a teacher as Marie was. WHS was fortunate to have her, but so were all of her students!
Thanks, Marie, for all that you did for me!

Condolence: I was one of many to have the privilege of having your mother as my senior English teacher at WHS. (class of 1968) She was an amazing teacher who was not afraid to take risks with our reading experiences, to challenge us to be better students, to have us write with more depth and clarity, among many other aspects. Yet, with our energetic class, she remained calm and dignified. Over the years, I have thought of her fondly.
